Since 1 January 2023, Oklahoma has been in the DOE South region, where a new split-system air conditioner must meet at least 14.3 SEER2 (11.7 EER2). The North region floor is only 13.4 SEER2, which means equipment that is legal to install new in Ohio is not legal to install new here. Anything you buy today already clears a higher bar than the system it replaces.
