What Are the Benefits of Installing a New HVAC System?
A: The clearest benefit is that a new system is built to a standard your old one was not. Since 1 January 2023, new split-system air conditioners installed in Oklahoma must meet 14.3 SEER2 because we sit in the DOE South region — the North region minimum is only 13.4 SEER2. Equipment that is legal to install new in Ohio is not legal to install new here.
A few other things change when the equipment is new:
- New ducted systems run R-454B refrigerant instead of R-410A, which stopped being manufactured for residential units on 1 January 2025
- Sizing is done fresh, with a load calculation for your actual house rather than whatever was installed decades ago
- Repairs stop stacking up — a compressor alone runs $1,500-$3,500+
A typical residential installation in our area runs $7,500-$10,000, averaging around $8,000, and estimates for a new or replacement system are always free. See installation options or check a financing rate without affecting your credit. Questions: 405-420-4895.
