The disruptive parts of a commercial changeout are short and predictable: crane sete and removal, electrical tie-in, and anything that closes a section of parking or a stairwell. Those are the pieces worth moving off your busiest hours. The rest — staging equipment, duct and controls work, startup and balancing — usually runs alongside a working building.

Things that help:

• Phase it. A multi-unit building rarely has to lose all its cooling at once; units can be swapped in sequence so occupied areas stay conditioned.
• Pick your window. Our standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00am–6:00pm. After-hours, weekend, and holiday work is available at the after-hours rate when daytime downtime costs more than the labour does.
• Tell your staff the dates. Most complaints come from surprise, not temperature.
