What HSPF2 Means for an Oklahoma Heat Pump

Oklahoma is one of the places where the heating rating genuinely earns attention, because a heat pump here gets no off-season: a long punishing cooling season and a real winter in the same twelve months. Since 1 January 2023 the federal minimum for a new split-system heat pump has been 7.5 HSPF2, with single-package units at 6.7 HSPF2. On the cooling side, Oklahoma sits in the DOE South region, so a new split system must also meet 14.3 SEER2 — equipment that is legal to install in Ohio at 13.4 SEER2 is not legal to install new here.
